Who was Reuben in the Bible
Reuben is a prominent character in the book of Genesis for being the first son of Jacob and Leah. As the firstborn, he carried great expectations of leadership and inheritance within the patriarchal family. In Genesis 49, when Jacob blesses his sons before dying, he strongly rebukes Reuben, stating that although he was the firstborn, he would not have the excellence of leadership because he had “gone up to his father’s bed.” This episode determined the loss of his prominent position among his brothers.
